Bargain hunters, take note: Atari announced today that its Test Drive Unlimited will be the first Xbox 360 game to release on launch day with a $39.95 price tag. That's right: a $40, brand-new Xbox 360 game.

Currently Xbox 360 gamers can find $40 new games on the market published by Electronic Arts, but those games shipped on their first day with the now-standard $60 Xbox-360 game price.

Presumably, Atari hopes to make up some of the price difference via downloadable content. The company announced that although the retail massively multiplayer racing game ships with 90 cars, downloadable packs with six or more cars and genre-specific radio stations will be available monthly, beginning six weeks after launch, on Xbox Live Marketplace.

The radio stations, at least one of which will be included in each downloadable car pack, will be set according to genres, such as Rock, Blues, Electronic, R&B, Jazz, Latin, etc., and feature between 10-20 songs.

Da ich es mir aber gleich am ersten Tag des Release-Datums schnappen werde, muss ich wohl oder übel den Standardpreis von 50€ bezahlen.
